Send us Fan MailFrom Anger And Worry To Empowered Action “Refrain from anger and forsake wrath. Do not fret--it leads only to evil.” - Psalm 37:8The psalmist didn’t say that we wouldn’t have good reasons to be angry. The psalmist didn’t say we wouldn’t have good reasons to worry. Most assuredly most of us do. Nevertheless, nursing our anger and grievances seldom leads us to positive outcomes. Allowing ourselves to be consumed with worry paralyzes and hinders our ability to find creative solutions. So how do we refrain? Our anger is provoked by our sense of the unfairness and injustice that we are witnessing and experiencing and by our feelings of powerlessness. When we identify and describe the specific wrongs, develop a plan to address them, and then take the specific actions to implement that plan, we shift from feelings of anger to empowerment. Similarly our feelings of worry are stoked by our feelings of being overwhelmed and powerless in the face of our problems. When we identify and describe the specific sources of our worries, we can then develop a plan to address them, and take the actions necessary to implement the plan. Our focus shifts from worrying to acting. I’m Horace McMillon. This is 60 Seconds of Hope.
