From Combat to Community: US Army Veteran Joseph Fontenot’s Journey

from The MisFitNation · host Richard LaMonica

🎙️ On the next episode of The MisFitNation, host Rich LaMonica welcomes US Army Veteran Joseph “Fonty” Fontenot, a combat-tested leader, musician, and veteran advocate with an inspiring story of resilience and reinvention. Fonty served 20 years in the US Army, retiring as a First Sergeant after deployments to Abu Ghraib, Iraq, and the Arghandab River Valley, Afghanistan. Before enlisting, he was a rising musician but chose to put his career on hold to serve in the Global War on Terror. In 2015, after returning from Afghanistan, he was named Soldier of the Year, a testament to his dedication and leadership. However, multiple combat-related injuries threatened to end his career. Despite years in the Warrior Transition Unit, Fonty’s unbreakable spirit led him back to the 101st Airborne Division. Since retiring, he has continued his mission to serve, earning a bachelor’s degree in forensic psychology, working with veteran organizations, and using his platform as a guest speaker to help fellow warriors navigate life after service. 🔥 In this episode, we discuss: ✅ His decision to leave a music career to serve in the military ✅ The challenges of combat deployments and transitioning home ✅ How he overcame career-ending injuries and kept moving forward ✅ His work in forensic psychology and veteran advocacy ✅ The mindset needed to thrive beyond military service Join us for a powerful conversation with Joseph Fontenot, a leader who proves that service doesn’t end when the uniform comes off—it just takes a new form. 🎧Become a part of The MisFitNation https://linktr.ee/themisfitnation Want to be a guest on The MisFitNation?
