Aaron's placement as a night clerk at the front desk of the bachelor quarters during his shore duty further reinforces his desire for something more stimulating. Aaron's motivation to serve others and make a positive impact also drives his transition from comfort to danger. He believes that by doing his best for others, he can lead a more fulfilling life.
