From Daughter to Caregiver: Walking with a Mother Through Cancer

Johanny Reyes and I spoke about the reversal of roles, from being cared for to becoming the caregiver often influenced by unspoken rules and misconceptions in Latinx immigrant families. Topics in this segment include the common silence regarding illness, aging, and what support can look like as a caregiver. Johanny shares what it was like as the eldest daughter suddenly stepping into a caregiver role and how she learned to navigate this new identity while processing grief.
