From Dominican Fields to Royals' Future | Kansas City Royals News

From Dominican fields to Royals’ front office, Daniel Guerrero’s baseball journey took a wild turn after a chance meeting with a Royals official during a game — a moment that launched his career. Now leading the Royals’ international scouting, he’s helped bring nine of their top 30 prospects overseas, including breakout stars like Kendry Chourio and Angeibel Gomez. Rooted in family legacy — his grandfather and uncle were scouts too — Guerrero’s path was winding: from internships in the DR to learning the U.S. draft system before returning home to rebuild the Royals’ global talent pipeline. With seasoned scouts like Johnny DiPuglia and his own uncle by his side, and armed with cutting-edge analytics and video tools, Guerrero is redefining how the Royals find athletic, contact-hitting talent — blending old-school instinct with next-gen tech to dominate the international game.
