From Doubting Disciples to Believing Brothers

from The DCC Podcast · host Dayspring Christian Center

Today, Bishop Rodgers teaches from John 20:11-18 on how Jesus' resurrection changed "Doubting Disciples to Believing Brothers." The words Jesus spoke to Mary were of a new relationship, new relatives, and a new responsibility. The "new relationship" began with Jesus ascension and the gift of the Holy Spirit. The disciples entered a new status to become joint heirs with Christ of eternal life and partakers of the inheritance of the saints. The "new relatives" refer to Jesus calling His disciples "My brothers," instead of "friends." The shift focus from blood to spiritual kinship. The term brethern was used to designate the entire Christian community (male and female). The "new responsibility" refer to Jesus telling Mary to testify to His risen presence. Christians today are also the recipients of special grace; they too are given this new responsibility to witness to the world. We pray you enjoy this message on Resurrection Sunday. Have a safe and bless Easter Sunday.
