More about Taj Troy: Taj Troy, a resilient and dedicated leader from Mullins, South Carolina, embarked on a journey fueled by a passion for flight. Graduating from Mullins High School in 1993, Taj attended the University of South Carolina while enlisting in the SC Air National Guard (SCANG) as an aircraft mechanic. Despite initial roles, his determination led him to secure a pilot training slot, becoming the first Black pilot in SCANG history in 2002. With over 2,800 flight hours, including combat missions over Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria, Taj's service as an F-16 fighter pilot earned him the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Transitioning to commercial aviation in 2015, he now pilots Boeing 787s for United Airlines, while also establishing Propel Aviation Center LLC in 2021, aimed at training aspiring pilots with excellence and innovation. Beyond aviation, Taj's commitment to community uplift is evident in his role as the Founder of Propellor, a nonprofit fostering youth empowerment through aviation-focused STEM programs. Rooted in faith, Taj sees aviation as more than a career but a ministry, leaving a legacy of service and excellence.
