From Faithless Fear To Fearsome Faith

Without faith it is impossible to please God, for those who come to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6) The fourth chapter of Mark recounts five of Jesus' parables and the story of one of His miracles to teach us a lot about the life of faith. In each of the parables there is a central truth to be understood that highlights five specific aspects of what it means to walk by faith. In the miracle, we learn a sixth aspect of faith involving the role that life's difficulties play in forging our faithfulness to Christ. Sort of like the old adage: Whatever doesn't kill you can make you stronger. Today, we'll review the parables and then focus on the miracle of Jesus calming a life-threatening storm on the Sea of Galilee. Our goal is to see how Jesus helped those in the boat with Him to exchange fear for faith ... and discover how He will do the same for you and me today!
