From Film Reels to Real Kills: SCREAM pt. 2

The episode opens with police and addressing the public during the investigation as the community tried not to panic.  The women have a discussion on how the slap at the Oscars ties into the Scream film universe and share their opinions on the incident.  After wrapping up with pop culture news, they return to Gainesville, Florida 1990. Abi discloses findings that occurred between killings and the events that followed the last set of murders in Gainesville before Rolling appeared to attempt to make a run for it. Robberies, a suspicious campsite in the woods, and a Crime Stoppers tip had Rolling's name all over them, but not yet to the authorities' knowledge. Unknown to them, an innocent-looking tape at mentioned campsite would have Rolling name himself right on it. A red herring known as Ed Humphrey nearly had everyone convinced the Ripper had been found, however a DNA finding changed everything. Daniela and Abi discuss Rolling's country star potential had social media existed. Abi prefaces the events of some of the trial before going on to refer to ABC's coverage of the episode trial and the victim's family members' statements.  Sondra London, the journalist who got engaged to Danny Rolling before his trial, sparks the idea of what applies to a “pick me” serial killer edition. Daniela witnessing a dog on a flatbed triggers a conversation on dog safety to end the episode. TW: graphic content, sexual assault
