To close out Foster Care Awareness Month (It was May), host Tanya sits down with Dr. Kym Louise Gee, a Harlem-born foster care alumna, addiction survivor, mother, and Doctor of Philosophy in Human Services, specializing in Mental Health Administration. Only 7–10% of former foster youth ever graduate from college. Dr. Kym did it in 18 years of relentless sacrifice and planning to help others do the same. They talk: aging out, getting sober, college after 50, her groundbreaking research on college mental health, and the children's book and senior wellness book she's bringing into the world.
