    (Proverbs 23:2)  “…and put a knife to your throat if you are given to gluttony.”(Proverbs 29:18 NKJV)  “Where there is no vision, the people perish…”Why take care of your body? 1.    To point people to Christ.(Proverbs 10:17)  “He who heeds discipline shows the way to life, but whoever ignores correction leads others astray.”(2 Corinthians 4:10)  “We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.”2. To bring us into holiness.(1 Thessalonians 4:4-5)  “Each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God.”(1 Thessalonians 5:23)  “May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”3. To honor God.(1 Corinthians 6:19-20)  “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?  You are not your own; you were bought with a price.  Therefore honor God with your body.”My Physical Goals for 2010How to Get There(Proverbs 4:20-22)  “My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words.  Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to a man's whole body.”1. Discipline.(Romans 7:21-23)  “So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me.  For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members.”(Hebrews 12:11)  “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.”2. Exercise.(1 Timothy 4:8)  “For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.”3. Diet.(1 Corinthians 6:12-13)  “Everything is permissible for me”--but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible for me”--but I will not be mastered by anything.4. Rest.(Psalm 127:2)  “In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat-- for he grants sleep to those he loves.”(Mark 6:31)  “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”5.
