Hosanna in the highest!” 1.THE CROWD OFFER PRAISES.John 12:13 So they took branches of palm trees and wentout to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in thename of the Lord, even the King of Israel!” 2 Kings 9:13 “Then in haste every man of them took his garment andput it under him on the bare steps, and they blew the trumpet and proclaimed,“Jehu is king.” 2.THECROWD ACKNOWLEDGES   JESUS. Psalm 24:9,10 Lift up your heads, O gates! And lift them up, Oancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. 10. Who is this King ofglory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory! Selah  3.THE CROWD DECLARES HIM KING.Luke 19:38 saying, “Blessed is the King whocomes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” Zechariah 9:9 “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, Odaughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming toyou; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on acolt, the foal of a donkey.” Genesis 49:8-11 “Judah, your brothers shall praise you; your handshall be on the neck of your enemies; your father’s sons shall bow down beforeyou. 9. Judah is a lion’s cub; from the prey, my son, you have gone up. Hestooped down; he crouched as a lion and as a lioness; who dares rousehim? 10. The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s stafffrom between his feet, until tribute comes to him; and to him shall be theobedience of the peoples. 11. Binding his foal to the vine and hisdonkey’s colt to the choice vine, he has washed his garments in wine and hisvesture in the blood of grapes.    Matthew 27:20-23  Now the chiefpriests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and destroyJesus.  21.The governor again said to them, “Which of the two do you wantme to release for you?” And they said, “Barabbas.”  22. Pilate said tothem, “Then what shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” They all said,“Let him be crucified!”  23. And he said, “Why? What evil has he done?”But they shouted all the more, “Let him be crucified!”      4.THE CROWD REJECTS CHRIST.  Isaiah 29:13“And the Lord said: “Because this people draw nearwith their mouth and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far fromme, and their fear of me is a commandment taught by men,”Ezekiel 33:30,31 “As for you, son of man, your people who talktogether about you by the walls and at the doors of the houses, say to oneanother, each to his brother, ‘Come, and hear what the word is that comes fromthe Lord.’  31. And they come to you as people come, and they sit beforeyou as my people, and they hear what you say but they will not do it; for withlustful talk in their mouths they act; their heart is set on their gain. Matthew 15:7, 8 “You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, whenhe said: 8. “‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart isfar from me;” Amos 5:23, 24 Take away from me the noise of your songs; to themelody of your harps I will not listen. 24. But let justice roll down likewaters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.
