From Page to Screen with Peter Heller | Spokane News

Peter Heller’s post-apocalyptic novel “The Dog Stars” is soaring—now adapted for the big screen with Ridley Scott directing and Mark L. Smith penning the script. Set against sweeping Western vistas, it follows Hig, a lone survivor flying his plane “The Beast,” who stumbles upon a hidden canyon community after hearing a mysterious radio signal. Heller, a former nonfiction writer, penned the novel in just seven months and now writes 1,000 words daily, inspired by Graham Greene. He and his wife visited the Italian set, where the Dolomites stood in for Colorado, and even met actor Guy Pearce. Heller believes AI can’t replicate the deep emotional connection readers feel with his authentic, resonant voice—and he’s already hard at work on his eighth novel, “The Far Blue.” Listen in comfort:Get a discount on a Soli Pillow: http://solipillow.com/discount/dnn.
