From Patient to Purpose: A Nurse Coach’s Mission to Transform Organ Donation Support- Taylor Byrer BSN, RN, NC-BC Highlights“I was telling these two about my story and about how I needed a liver. And it was the most moving, most like chilling experience, like every single hair on my body was standing straight, because then the next time that we met, one of them had shared that she had lost her dad, and it was unexpected. And then the hospital staff came to her and asked if he was an organ donor. And she said, ‘No, he wasn’t.’ And she said, ‘I had never thought about him being an organ donor, like I never thought about that process.’And she said, ‘…and it wasn't until I heard about your story that I said, Yes, I want him to be an organ donor, and he would be okay with that’. And then he was an organ donor.
