From Raging People Pleaser to Authentic Living

from Thrive Like A Parent · host Dr. Brooke Weinstein

EP:132 As a former "raging people pleaser", I know firsthand how exhausting it can be to constantly put others' needs before your own. I used to do everything for everyone, to the point where I was absolutely drowning. I'd say yes to things I had no time or energy for, shy away from difficult conversations, and never accept help - all in the pursuit of being the "perfect" mom, wife, friend, and professional. But I've learned that your purpose in life isn't to serve others - it's to live and enjoy your life fully, on your own terms. It takes courage to stop being a chameleon and start being your authentic self. I had to shed a lot of old relationships and communities that didn't accept the real me. But surrounding myself with my "people" - those who love and support me unconditionally - has been so freeing. Now I use my values as a compass, being honest about what I want and need, even if it means setting boundaries that ruffle some feathers. I've realized that being honest and assertive isn't the same as being unkind or selfish. It's about having the courage to show up as your true self. Overcoming people-pleasing isn't easy, but it's so worth it for your mental health and personal fulfillment. Start small, be patient with yourself, and remember - you are worthy, even if it means ruffling a few feathers. 🦋 Links & Resources: 📘 Check out more episodes of Thrive Like a Parent - https://drbrookeweinstein.com/thrive-podcast/ 📸 Follow Dr. B on Instagram -   https://bit.ly/48VZI5e   🌐 Visit our website for more resources on self-care and well-being - https://drbrookeweinstein.com #PeoplePleasingFree #FindYourPurpose #SelfCareIsNotSelfish
