From Rebellion to Mission: Learning to Live Holiness in Ordinary Life (The Tim Glemkowski Show)

Tim Glemkowski, host of the new Relevant Radio show The Tim Glemkowski Show, knows what it is like to grow up Catholic and still feel distant from God. Raised in a faithful family, he admits he was the “black sheep,” more interested in football and trouble than holiness. But near the end of high school, everything changed when he had a powerful encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist. Until then, the Faith had felt more like an obligation than a relationship. After that encounter, God became real and personal, and Tim discovered a joy he did not know was possible. “I met Jesus when I was 18 in the Eucharist,” he said, “and I want to give Him my entire heart.” That desire led him to study theology, work in ministry, and even enter seminary. But after several months, he realized he was not called to the priesthood. Troubled by that, he brought his fears to his spiritual director, who helped him see something freeing: the desire for holiness, mission, and greatness is not reserved for priests alone. “We call that Christianity,” the priest told him. That insight became a turning point. Tim began to understand that everyone was called to holiness and Baptism was just the first step in that call. The challenge is learning how to live personal holiness in daily life, work, marriage, friendships, and all the seemingly ordinary moments that fill our days. That is the heart of the Christian life: Not escaping ordinary life, but sanctifying it. Holiness is not only for the few. It awaits every Catholic who strives to give everything to God.
