🐷 The “Little Pig Thought Experiment”: What If It’s Your Turn to Be Overthrown?Imagine that a new political party suddenly appears in China.Let’s call it the Little Pig Party. They announce:“The Communist Party once overthrew the Nationalist government through revolution and established a new regime. If history can change, then it’s our turn. We will overthrow the Communist Party and build a new China.”What would you call them?“Separatists. Traitors. Enemies of national unity.”Fair enough. But then comes the uncomfortable question:① Why could you do it then, but we can’t do it now?In 1931, the Chinese Communist movement established the Chinese Soviet Republic in Ruijin, with its own government, military, currency, and constitutional framework. It was creating an alternative political authority inside a China that already had an existing government. If doing that today is called “separatism,”why was doing it back then called “revolution”?If the answer is:“Because the historical circumstances were different.”Then who gets to decide when history is the “right time” for revolution?② Why does “history can change” suddenly stop here? The Qing dynasty could be overthrown. The Republic of China could be overthrown. But after the Communist revolution:“Okay, history ends here.”That sounds suspiciously like:I can overthrow my predecessor. You cannot overthrow me.③ The final question: What if the Little Pig Party actually wins?Suppose the Little Pig Party succeeds. If the rule is:The successful revolutionary becomes the legitimate successor to the previous regime, then yesterday’s Communist government becomes today’s “old regime.”And the Little Pig Party becomes the new government. So the real question is:If successfully overthrowing a previous regime creates legitimacy, why should that rule apply before 1949—but suddenly stop applying after 1949?That is the point of the Little Pig Thought Experiment. It does not argue that the Little Pig Party should launch a revolution. It simply takes the same historical logic and applies it back to the present. And suddenly, the logic starts eating itself.🐷The real question is not:“Who overthrew whom?”It is:Do you believe in a political principle that applies to everyone—or do you simply believe that whoever wins becomes the legitimate successor?"Sip & Talk": Casual talks on news, philosophy, AI, and geopolitics, now spanning global finance and frontier science.
