From DJ gigs in High School to pay the bills, to triple majoring in college, today’s guest knew he wanted to be in sports journalism, but could have never imagined evolving the award winning documentary director that he is today. Johnny Sweet is this week’s guest on “The Jake Dunlap Show.” Johnny grew up in New York and Yonkers during the golden age of hip hop. As a child he fell in love with rap music and sports, ultimately leading to him triple majoring in Journalism, History, and Political Science in college at Syracuse.While attending Syracuse, he was a DJ to pay the bills. His love for journalism ultimately landed him a role at ESPN where he found his path over much hard work. Now, he makes his living by bringing stories from World-Renowned Athletes to life. He is the producer and director of both “Vick: A Bleacher Report Documentary” which featured Michael Vick’s story, as well as “Quiet Storm,” a documentary about the life of Ron Artest that debuted in 2019 on Showtime.
