From the Earth to the Moon Chapter 27 - Foul Weather

In which the firing of the Columbiad produces a spectacular, fiery eruption that shakes the very earth and captivates the populous, only to be followed by an oppressive cloud cover that veils the heavens and obscures the awaiting eyes from their celestial quest. Amidst the restless anticipation and torment of obscured vision, the atmosphere, true to its capricious nature, at last dispels its shroud to reveal the moon's radiant presence once more.
