From the Ground Up Ep. 281: "The End of This World", part 1 | 2023.05.24

from From the Ground Up

Published at the beginning of 2023, The End of this World presents a strong, clear and well-exampled case for "a coordinated movement" of Indigenous peoples, settler environmentalists, organised labour and many others as "the one thing that could bring us back from our current slide into climate collapse, colonial genocide and extreme inequality, and towards a better world where we live in balance with land and life". The six authors build their argument around traditional Indigenous teachings - of an economics of care, the centrality of children, building good relations and unity, pulling together in solidarity for survival, respect and reciprocity with the land and other creatures, decent work and generally living a good life. In this episode, two of the authors, Angele Alook and Emily Eaton, talk to Mark about those principles. In the next episode they will talk about the implications for action. Hosted on Acast.
