He is also a proud recipient of the prestigious John Philip Sousa Band Award, recognizing superior musicianship and dedication.Post-high school, Joey dove headfirst into the rock and metal scene, performing in projects that opened for major acts like Flaw, Motograter, Dope, Crowbar, and Fear Factory. His versatility, discipline, and stage presence have since taken him far beyond those roots.Today, Joey Ashes is the drummer, band leader, and tour manager for rising Texas Country artist Caden Gillard. With Gillard, he’s played legendary venues such as The Bluebird Café (Nashville, TN), Cain’s Ballroom (OK), Gruene Hall (TX), and EquiBlues Festival (France).
