Its Arizona plant is part of global expansion — not a transfer of control. 🔹 2. The U.S. Plant Lags Behind Taiwan in Technology The Arizona facility produces 5nm and 4nm chips. Taiwan already mass-produces 3nm and is developing 2nm. The U.S. plant cannot replicate Taiwan’s full ecosystem or talent density. 🔹 3. Core Technology and Supply Chain Stay in Taiwan Advanced packaging, EUV tool operations, and key suppliers are still centered in Taiwan and allied nations. The U.S. plant depends on Taiwan-based engineers and logistics. 🔹 4. TSMC’s U.S. Expansion is for Risk Diversification, Not Technology Transfer In a geopolitically tense world, global fabs are risk management. Both TSMC founders (Morris Chang and Mark Liu) have repeatedly stated: “Leading-edge tech will stay in Taiwan.” 🔹 5.
