Fronhofer Design: 100% New York Built Breweries

from Beer Sessions Radio (TM)

This week on Beer Sessions Radio, Jimmy is learning all about building a brewing system in upstate New York. On the show is Dieter Gehring and Scott Veltman from Indiana Ladder Cidery and Brewery in Albany County, NY and Melanie Fronhofer from Fronhofer Design in Glen Falls, NY. To kick things off, Melanie gives us Fronhofer’s backstory, taking us all the way back to her dad’s machine shop. Fronhofer has come a long way, and recently, they teamed up with Indiana Ladder Cidery Brewery to build a completely new brewery, helping them to create “The Traveler” system out of 100% New York State equipment. Scott and Dieter explain the pros to having small and big systems, and walk us through what design differences they were looking for in each. Dieter and Scott also explain the brand and identity behind running a brewery and cidery. After the break, the gang continues to geek out over brewing systems, including weather-proof outdoor fermenters and swinging shipping containers. Dieter also tells us about Farming Man Fest, their take on Burning Man, and Melanie talks about the challenges of refurbishing versus starting from scratch.Photo Courtesy of Melanie Fronhofer Weber.Heritage Radio Network is a listener supported nonprofit podcast network. Bauer, Florian Schneider, Axel Weber & Dr. Tillman Bardt The Newmorrow PodCast is more than a podcast — it's a platform for open dialog on the future of our business, a platform for those building what doesn’t exist yet. Here, we share and embrace our passion for the hospitality industry, but we won’t romanticize the journey. We ask the tough questions, confront uncomfortable truths, and prepare for a future that resists easy answers. We believe that the tougher and wilder times become, the more openly, honestly and humanely people need to talk to each other and act together. We believe, openness, togetherness, and truthfulness should also be cornerstones of a professional community to develop our utopian idea of „open source“. This is a space where visionaries don’t just imagine the future — they wrestle with the paradoxes that shape it: success vs. happiness, data vs. instinct, stability vs. reinvention. Join leaders, entrepreneurs, and thinkers as they share not what made them — but what’s actively shaping them, now and next. So tune in The Brackenfield Records Anvil Audio Productions An off-beat homage to classic radio detectives of the 1940s and '50s, The Brackenfield Records offers comforting genre fare, sitting somewhere between cosy and hard-boiled crime fiction.Whether it's dealing with unfaithful spouses, off-the-rails celebrities, crooked businesspeople, or gun-toting no-gooders, Brackenfield never falters!
