Researchers compared three common interventions: early structured physiotherapy with a steroid injection, manipulation under anaesthesia, and arthroscopic capsular release. The trial findings revealed that none of the treatments were clinically superior to the others regarding long-term pain relief and improved shoulder function at the one-year mark. While capsular release surgery carried the highest risks and costs, manipulation under anaesthesia was identified as the most cost-effective option within the UK healthcare system.
