A two day regional workshop on the fruit-fly management project opened in Livingstone, Zambia, with delegates from mainly Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe in attendance. The aim of the workshop is to review, among others, the on-going measures to control the spread of the fruit-fly and its distraction of the fruit industry in the region. The workshop is sponsored by the Food and Agriculture Organisation, FAO. In finding out more about the fruit-fly, Hilda Akekelwa spoke to Dr Chimimba Phiri, the FAO Sub-regional Coordinator for Southern Africa.
