Full Metal Jacket - Free Market Film Analysis
from The Last Nighters - Free-market Film Analysis · host The Last Nighters
What is this Mickey Mouse shit?! We are getting with the program and recording on the duality of man. You know, Jungian shit. We talk about a movie with interesting and stimulating people of an ancient culture...and love you long time tonight. We wanted to be the first show on our block with an analysis of Kubrick’s “Full Metal Jacket”l. We bring back Jon Reed who’s been on many times before. He’s got a major malfunction and is a bit of a film scholar and maker, and is an appreciator of fine works such as this one. Stanley Kubrick's take on the Vietnam War follows smart-aleck Private Davis (Matthew Modine), quickly christened "Joker" by his foul-mouthed drill sergeant (R. Lee Ermey), and pudgy Private Lawrence (Vincent D'Onofrio), nicknamed "Gomer Pyle," as they endure the rigors of basic training. Though Pyle takes a frightening detour, Joker graduates to the Marine Corps and is sent to Vietnam as a journalist, covering -- and eventually participating in -- the bloody Battle of Hué. Check in with us next week as we hit up some “Conspiracy” with our friend, Dr. Dennis Foster. Show Notes: http://www.lastnighters.com/137 Look for it at the Launch Pad Media, where they are always launching new ideas in your direction: http://www.thelaunchpadmedia.com Reel Unconventional Film Analysis. We use movies as a starting point for people who may not be familiar with this way of thinking. The point is to show what anarchy actually is with instances that are presented in film.
