from The Scoot Show with Scoot
On today's show, Scoot The New Orleans City Council is considering a new tax or fee on Mardi Gras krewes to help offset the cost of police, protection, and logistics for parades. Is that reasonable, or would it put too much pressure on the krewes that already spend big money to keep Mardi Gras rolling? If you ride or belong to a krewe, do you understand the need for the city to recover some costs, or do you think this would hurt the tradition? A 17-year-old is dead after falling down stairs inside the long-abandoned Plaza Tower, a building that has become a destination for urban explorers. His family says the building was not secure enough to keep teenagers out. So where is the responsibility here? Do people bear responsibility for entering a dangerous abandoned building, or do owners and the city have an obligation to make sure a place like that is truly secured?
