FULL SHOW: Jacks-Bison rivalry rages on (keyboards) while Jerry Palleschi talks USD's joy ride & busy month at PREMIER Center

from Happy Hour with John Gaskins

Playing in the NCAA Tournament is always the coolest thing that can happen to a college basketball program and its fan base.   But going on a run in the WNIT can be pretty cool. The 2016 USD Coyotes proved that. So did the 2022 SDSU Jackrabbits. Both won the event.   The wave of momentum and goodwill that builds for a program after each win during its March mulligan is palpable, especially when every game is at home, as it was for the two aforementioned squads.   The wave is swelling in Vermillion after USD's thrilling 65-56 win over Montana State on Monday to reach the "Fab 4" round.    The Happy Hour host carves into the unique buzz (and bond between team and fans) that continues to grow during this latest WNIT run.   Later, the host is joined at Gibs Sports Bar by the Voice of the USD women, Jerry Palleschi, who gives keen insight from both the court and the behind-the-ropes access he gets.   Palleschi's day job is as a representative of the Sioux Falls Sports Authority, the organization that lures, prepares, and stages regional and national events in the city.   Talk about March madness. Over the last four weeks, the SFSA hosted the Summit League basketball tournaments, the NCAA Div. II wrestling national championships, and this past weekend's NCAA Div. I men's hockey regional.   The USD alumnus describes all that goes into bringing and conducting massive events, and what the SFSA has in mind for future projects. Is an NCAA men's regional on the table? Why has Sioux Falls never hosted one?   Also in this episode, the host breaks down the remarks of SDSU's athletic director and head football coach regarding NDSU's move from FBS to FCS football, as uttered on Happy Hour's trip to Brookings to interview both last week.   Safe to say that while the schools are taking a break from playing one another, the fans very much enjoy throwing the grenade back and forth over the border
