FULL SHOW | Kirk Franklin Talks Seeking Therapy and Being a Man of Faith; Grammy’s Add New Country Music Category; Tyler Perry’s “Straw” Tops Netflix Global Charts; and MORE

In this episode of The Rickey Smiley Morning Show Podcast, guests explore four compelling headlines. Gospel staple, Kirk Franklin recently revealed he attends therapy alongside his strong Christian faith, sharing that being adopted and growing up without a stable support system led him to seek professional help. The Grammys’ introduction of Best Traditional Country Album in 2026 drew criticism as a veiled response to Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Grammy win, with fans say it signals segregation within the industry. Finally, Tyler Perry’s Netflix thriller Straw debuted at number one globally during its first week, amassing over 25 million views and proving Perry’s continued dominance in streaming with gripping storytelling filmed in just four days.
