Functional Foods - Acai

from Today’s Gut Health Tip · host Melissa Hall Klepacki, M.Ac.

Have you tried acai (pronounced ah-sigh-EE) berries?  On their own they are very tart and you'll most likely have tried them in a bowl where they are sweetened with fruit juice and whipped into a yogurty texture. If you are shopping for them you'll want to buy them frozen as they spoil very quickly or in a powdered form.   Some studies show that acai fruit pulp is even richer in antioxidants than cranberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, or blueberries.  They are also rich in Omerga-3 fatty acids.
