Ah, this episode was fun! I did my usual start at a random BPM, drop it right down for a bit, then pick things back up, and crammed in a big variety of funky nugs from across the years. There was not one but two brand new bits from me, including something that’s coming out on Too Slow To Disco’s next compilation, which is really exciting. Then there’s an assortment of brand new bits alongside some funk, disco and boogie grooves. In hour 2 it was all about my friend Mauro Vecchi. A rhythm addict since the 90s, Mauro is a DJ and funky soul from central Italy. His sets span from downtempo grooves up to quality disco/house, and he keeps it all about the music whatever the format. Always active in programming for clubs and events in his area and beyond, Mauro’s mixes can be heard on monthly shows, Uptown Disco Session in U-FM Radio (Rome), The Word Is Groove in Radio RapTZ (Paris) and in his very popular Mixcloud channel. In 2020 he opened a Bandcamp channel with some edits and remixes, released his first official tracks on And Friends Records and placed some edits in prestigious collections like Discoholics Anonymous and Yacht Disco Edits / Too Slow To Disco. I’ve had the pleasure of joining Mauro on a few of these compilations, and I’m super excited to get him on the show for an hour of exquisitely funky grooves across disco, funk, boogie and more.
