Funkier Radio Episode 61 (Wahine Guest Mix)

I recorded this episode live about 2 hours after getting back from Camp Bestival, my first festival in exactly two years. I was absolutely exhausted so I’m not at my chattiest (probably a good thing!), but I decided to open the show with the absolute banger that is The Spirit by Mighty Mouse, simply because I heard it and danced to it a couple of times over the weekend. That’s right - danced! Dancing’s back, and boy did it feel good! I also mixed up tracks from Dr Packer, Probably Shouldn’t, Mannix, Andy Buchan and a new freebie from myself. In the second hour It’s my pleasure to welcome back the talented and amazing Wahine. Lauren was a guest on my show way back on Episode 19 in early 2020 and since then, despite covid preventing us ever meeting, we’ve become good friends and spent many hours enjoying music together thanks to the power of internet radio shows and chatrooms. Lauren has impeccable taste in music and is an excellent DJ, but above all else is a wonderfully positive, warm and supportive soul who is always willing to help or offer advice to anyone. The world needs more people like Lauren. Lauren’s first appearance on the show was before I started asking for exclusive mixes, so her mix was taken (with her permission) from one already on her soundcloud. So this one is her first exclusive! As you’d expect from Wahine the track selection is flawless and the mixing silky smooth, but the vibe is perhaps a bit deeper than I’d normally expect from her.
