Funkier Radio Episode 70 - Craig Scott [Ebony Sessions] Guest Mix

Started this episode on the slower side, took in some beats around 105bpm, slowed things down even more to about 90 then picked thinks back up to familiar 120bpm+ territory to cram in a few promos. This one was a lot of fun after a busy week and weekend that left little time for DJing, and I only pressed the wrong button a few times. Hour two’s guest mix is bloody brilliant to be honest. It’s from Craig Scott, a DJ of 30+ years from Plymouth who caught my ear a while back thanks to his excellent mix series Ebony Sessions. Those mixes, whilst eclectic, are heavily focussed around house and disco their many forms, so imagine my surprise when Craig turned in an hour of wall to wall funky hip hop! I’m so glad he did though - whilst hip hop and me can sometimes be a bit hit and miss, he’s exactly captured the vibe I go for - lively, good time retro beats with lots of big brassy funk samples, none of that gangsta sh*t.
