Future Pathologist Champions: Ensuring the Future of the Specialty

Beginning in the early 2000s, the number of US medical school seniors matching into a pathology residency experienced a steady decline. Rates went from 2.5% in 2003 to nearly 1% in the late 2010s. In response, the CAP created the Future Pathologist Initiative Project Team to address the critical issue of preventing a pathologist shortage by inspiring medical students to explore pathology as a career path.This episode features Dr. Kalisha Hill, project team chair, and Dr. Kamran Mirza, future pathologist champion facilitator, to discuss the team’s efforts and accomplishments.
