FW Ep 26 Time For Action

from Father and the Wolves Hosted by B.T. Higgins

A father would do well to guard his children against the wolves that I have discussed in this chapter, but my list is not comprehensive. Wolves, like candy, come in many varieties. I hope that you have gleaned some sense of the danger of letting the cultural influencers have free access in your home. Perhaps you have become more aware of where you’ve been believing their messaging personally and recognize the necessity of weaning yourself off some technology or entertainment. If you have let the wolves into your house, it is time to chase them out the front door. Warning! Making drastic changes like banning social media or certain kinds of entertainment will be met with resistance. If you have allowed unfettered access in the past, your kids will not understand unless you explain yourself. They will not agree with you, so be careful how you do this. Don’t be authoritarian. You don’t want to turn your kids against you and encourage them to reject your authority. If you make drastic declarations and throw devices in the trash out of the blue, your kids will feel injured and resentful. Instead, I suggest you take the gradual approach. Spend a month having discussions with your family about what you are learning in this book. Do some more research and start seeding the ground with messaging of your own. “The more I learn about social media, the more concerned I get about how it’s affecting our family.” At the end of the month, have a meeting with your family and present a new direction for social media use. The specifics of the new plan are up to you, but you must emphasize the reasons why you feel a new approach is needed. You will likely get a great deal of pushback. Listen to your kids’ counter-arguments. Write them down. Discuss them. Think about them. “I am going to think about your arguments this week, and we will have another family meeting next weekend.” Write down your arguments and ask them to think about them during the week. Come together again. It is your job to build consensus and lead your family. Explain to your family the adjustments you’ve made in order to be a better example in the home. For other wolves, it may not be possible to ban access. Your children will be exposed to some influencers, no matter what you do. You must educate your kids about what the culture believes and how it seeks to spread its belief system to everyone. Help them identify the lies and distortions as they arise. Turn it into a game. The cultural influencers toss up a message. Your family sees it, targets it with the truth, and blows it out of the sky. Have you ever seen the sport of skeet shooting? Look up a video on the internet, if you are unfamiliar. The shotgun sports are a perfect metaphor for what your family needs to do with the half-truths, distortions, and lies. Prepare them to stand strong in a world that disagrees with the Bible. It is time for action. I want you to strongly consider whether sending your kids to public school is the right decision. The intensity of the indoctrination grows every year. The system is designed to wrestle your kids from you. They may still act like your kids, but their minds, hearts, and ethics will be stolen by the system. You cannot compete with six hours of propagandizing a day. It’s just not possible. You won’t know what messages your kids are receiving. It’s impossible to counterbalance all of them in the few minutes you have each evening. I recommend pulling them out of the system. It is the number one thing you can do for your kids’ future. I realize it is a big ask that requires a great sacrifice of time, money, and lifestyle, but you cannot compete with the indoctrination your kids are receiving in public schools. It’s not possible. I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news. We live in a world that actively seeks to crush our values and beliefs. What will you do about it? Will you step into the gap between the wolves and your kids?
