Welcome to the Tweed Trends podcast. Hey, Evette, what's trending today? Hey, I'm Evette, hey girl. And you are tuned in to Tweed Trends.
It's the quickest way to find out what's trending today. Georgia, Georgia. The whole, just an old sweet song. Georgia, on the mind.
Georgia. Georgia is on the minds of many people today. And for some, it's due to the song you just heard by way of Rock the Run-Off, Broadway for Georgia. So they perform that song, Georgia, on my mind.
And if you haven't seen it yet on YouTube, then definitely I will have it linked in my social so that you can see it and hear it for yourself. It's an awesome rendition of Georgia, on my mind. But we all know that it isn't just because these Broadway actors and actresses sing so well that Georgia's on the minds of many. It's because of the actual runoff that's happening today.
And it's amazing because the president has added a little bit more spice to the mixture. And for his reason alone has a lot of people thinking about Georgia as well, not in regards to this runoff, but in regards to the actual election that happened way back in November in 2020. Yes, last year. It sounds so funny saying that I just really enjoy saying that.
We all know it wasn't that long ago. However, his term is almost up. And he is still up to the shenanigans. And you know, I don't like being political.
I don't like entering that sphere because it's a lot of negativity and nastiness that happens in there. So I try to stay out of that. I do my due diligence. I do my civic duty.
I vote. I listen to the sides. I figure it out what is going to benefit myself, my household, my community. And I go from there.
But as far as having all the discussions about it, the debates about it, I've come to the realization a long time ago that there are some people that are in it to actually have the dialogue. And those people, I welcome them to come and have a conversation. But when you have those people out there that are doing all this name calling and they're not listening to the point that you're making, they are just listening for a break in what you are saying so that they can jump in with some type of nonsensical, non-founded, not researched idea or ideology that in most cases just frustrates me. So like I said, I try to steer clear of that sphere.
I stay out of that realm. I try to stay in the positivity realm. However, because of the Senate runoffs today in Georgia, so much in government is writing on it that everybody has got their eyes peeled and looking straight at Georgia. So for those of you that are living under a rock, I'm going to try to help you out here.
Now those of you that are kind of like, I don't live in Georgia. I really don't care to know what's going on right now until everything comes out in the wash. Well, that's fine and dandy too. However, that's kind of a sad perspective to take on it, because so much is writing on this particular Senate runoff.
So for those of you that just have been out of the loop because you've been busy, let me feel you in here. So Georgia voters are heading to the polls for the last time today to cast their ballots in the Senate runoff elections. And the reason being is that so much is on this particular race, so much rides on it. So up to this point, more than 3 million Georgians have voted early.
Do you hear me? 3 million early votes. This is an absolute record for a statewide runoff election. And the reason being is that this particular runoff will determine which party gains control of the United States Senate.
Now, here's the setup. Democrats Raphael Warnock and John Ossoff are vying to unseat Republican incumbents Senator Kelly Loeffler and Senator David Perdue. Now, if the Republicans get one of the two seats, then they will gain control of the Senate. If the Democrats take both of the seats, then they will gain control of the Senate, which is why this is so just out in everybody's space.
Because everybody wants to know whose team is going to win. Basically that. I feel like that's what politics boils down to, is that you've got team Republican and team Democrat, and everybody wants their team to win. You know what?
I want Americans to win. Can we all cheer for Team America? Well, yeah, that would be great. However, in this moment right here, we're trying to figure out who's going to fill those two seats in the Senate.
Now, there's been a lot of nasty talk in everything that's been going on around these two campaigns. And it's unfortunate. It's really unfortunate. But like I said, that is what you get when you talk politics.
That is what you get when you get people from different sides of the aisle actually engaging every now and then you're going to get a decent exchange. But for the most part, it ain't nothing nice. Gloves come off and people just get the swinging. Because as a matter of fact, I caught part of the debate between Warnock and Loeffler.
And I was disgusted by the lack of answers that came from Kelly Loeffler, as well as her coined prelude to answering a question was to call Reverend Warnock names, you know, every single time. And I'm not going to repeat it here, because I just didn't feel it was right then and I don't feel it would be right for me. It wouldn't do any good. It would not help the picture anymore.
If you're interested, you can go Google the debates and you can see for yourself that every single time she opened the mic, she was saying negative things about him, bringing up things that have already been discussed, already been settled. But that is the way that people reach their base. They go low so that it's like, it's almost like a mating caller, if you will, where for those negative nancies out there that are so gung ho for their team, that they're willing to believe and run along with anything, then they take those types of comments and they never bother to research it to find out what the deal is. They just take it and go.
And that's my problem, that's my issue. That's a big issue of mine with social media, as a matter of fact. But, you know, so the fact that this race is ending today, the sad part about it is we're not going to get a solution or an answer for this today, unfortunately. The votes will go in and it'll probably take another couple of days before there is any solution, any bottom line to who won and which party is going to take over the Senate.
So, you know, strap yourselves in, because I think we're in for a bumpy ride these next couple of days. Now, some people may argue with the idea that, you know what, I would love to go vote, but I don't have a way to get there. My car broke down and I lent the loner car ahead to my next door neighbor cousin, best friend, uncle, and he don't get off a work till 10 o'clock tonight. So, oh darn it, I guess I just don't get the vote.
Well, guess what, you just don't get to keep that type of attitude and make those types of excuses because there are plenty of places around that are giving rides. As a matter of fact, Uber is giving free rides. Lyft is giving free rides. I had the code a second ago and I don't know where it went.
Where did my link go? There's also other organizations. There's an organization for people with disabilities. You can call them, set up a ride.
There is no reason why you should not be able to get to the polls. It just means you haven't looked hard enough. Go on Twitter and type in rides to the polls and you only had to put down Georgia because the majority of the things that are gonna pop up in the very top of that search is gonna be rides to the polls in Georgia for this runoff election. Now, don't get it twisted and thinking that you're gonna get a ride to one of the clubs with these girls and dancing on polls as a completely different type of poll and they will not give you a free ride there.
Now granted, if you go there and get drunk, you might be able to find a way to get a free ride home because they would rather you not drink and drive. But today, the focus is on the election polls, okay? Let's focus people, focus, focus. We gotta get you to the polls.
This election means so much. This runoff is critical. It's gonna determine how much Joe Biden and Kamala Harris can get done in office. So guys, come on, you gotta make it work.
You gotta do to do, get out there and vote. All right, well guys, that was today's episode of Tweet Trends. I don't know about you, but Georgia is definitely all my mind in my heart and in my prayers. I pray everything goes well there in Georgia today and that people keep sane minds, and that there's no violence or bloodshed or anything over this runoff election.
Emotions are running high. So I don't put it past anyone, but I'm just praying for good outcomes. I pray that God's will be done and that whatever we need to see or we need to go through, we're just gonna have to be okay with how that turns out. 45, you hear me on that?
You have to be okay with how things turned out. You lost. So quit trying to make things work in your favor. It's not gonna happen, dude.
Okay, anyway, sorry to try to put that little piece in there because I think somebody needs to tell him somebody needs to get him the woosah. Breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out and let it go, bro, like seriously, but anyway, because he's just taking things to the extreme. But we're not worried about him right now. We've got Georgia on our mind.
So do me a favor, head on over to Twitter, IG, Facebook. You can find me at HEVET, that's at H-E-V-E-T-E, or just look for the hashtag Tweet Trends.
