Gab & Jam Ep 124 How Do You Know When Music Is Good? Podcast

from Gab and Jam · host Prejippie Music Group, Inc.

Gab & Jam Ep 124 How do you know when music is good? Video Description This episode picks up on a topic that was discussed last week on the Volume show (on Sirius radio). They were asking if art should be “difficult” in order for it to be legitimate. —When we say “difficult”, we mean in multiple senses of the word: sonically difficult (maybe dissonance, etc.), ideologically difficult (as in deep, introspective, or political), reactionary (against the sound and ideas of the majority of popular artists), or complicated (in structure, like jazz). Check out the discussion. #music #good #artistic #bloomingprejippie #prejippie #gabandjam To give a little context, they were discussing why each of them liked and/or disliked the new Fiona Apple album (“Fetch the Bolt Cutters”). And I must say that they did such a good job of piquing my interest in the record, that I made it a point to listen to the album before the week was over! I also took the opportunity to draft a quick and dirty review of the album (that’s available in the accompanying blog post on this topic; check for the link in the description). #difficultvsgood #diyrockstar #prejippie #bloomingprejippie #coronavirus #quarantine #goodmusic #musicianlifestyle #Volume #fionaapple What do you think? Does music have to be weird-sounding, deep, or political for it to be good? We would LOVE to hear your thoughts on this! Please share in the comments below.
