Gab & Jam Ep 129 George Floyd Mourning: Ways Music Can Offer A Way Forward Podcast

from Gab and Jam · host Prejippie Music Group, Inc.

Ep 129 George Floyd Mourning: Ways Music Can Offer a Way Forward It’s just days after the funeral and after all the officers have been charged in the horrible death of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis Police Department. –Not to mention that we’re still in the middle of the Coronavirus pandemic…. It’s a lot for us humans of the Earth to take in. There is no way you are not affected in one way or another about any and all of this. Our prayers go out to the family and our hearts are hurting for the people who see themselves in this situation. It’s like some people have become fully alive and awakened to the idea that racial injustice still exists. As always, we love to offer some healing and hope, which is the impetus for this episode. Here’s how to use music/art/creative work to help you heal and as a way forward during this time. As a listener: • You can find music that helps you process the angst you are feeling at this time by listening to protest songs. The 60s has quite a catalog to choose from, including the works of Bob Dylan, etc. You may want something like Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On?” Or even more current Gary Clark Jr’s “This Land.” As a creator: • You can write music that helps you process your own feelings. #protest #diyrockstar #prejippie #bloomingprejippie #coronavirus #quarantine #georgefloyd #musicianlifestyle #dialogue #tips #strategies #voices #justice What do you think? Have you had a dialogue with people who have felt different from you? Have you listened to other people’s expression of their ideas on the matter? Further, have you written music to help express your thoughts and/or listened to others’ ideas on these important issues? We would LOVE to hear about it! Please share in the comments below.
