What is something you have learned or done that changed the way you experience life?I'm looking for an emphasis on the positive, and on things most people might not know about.NOTE: If your answer is a variation of the popular "break free of social oppression and don't care what people think any more", then, how did you DO that?Related but DifferentWhat changes have you made in your life that have enabled you to experience life in a better way?Virali Modi, Motivational SpeakerUpdated Feb 2I stopped caring.I realized that people don't give two shits about the boy you went out to dinner with, or if you told off the neighbor, or especially if you had sex with the neighbors daughter. For 'people' or 'society' it's all about gossip. They don't have anything better to do. Once they find something more exciting than what you did last weekend, your 'mistake' will be forgotten and they will move on to something else.Plus, the most important thing, that I've realized is that when someone's in trouble or they needed help of any kind, mentally, physically, emotionally, and/or financially; suddenly all the people who used to talk about you behind your back disappeared. What did I learn from that? If they're not putting food on your plate, a roof over your head, or clothes on your back, you don't need to give a fuck about them. It's as simple as that. Do what you want, without worrying about what someone says. When someone comes up to me to inform me of all the gossip they've heard about me, I say, "Really? Hmm, weird. I didn't know that about myself! Cool! I didn't know my life could be so mysterious and interesting."If you care and worry about what people say, they'll say more stuff to make you feel like a bad person. They're negative energy, you don't need that in life. How and why I stopped worrying.Something else that I realized was that I kept worrying about silly issues in my life that couldn't be controlled.A great example of this would be my mom. When something doesn't go accordingly, she starts getting tense. She doesn't eat, doesn't drink, and doesn't take care of herself, which can ultimately lead to bad health. One day, an idea came to me. This was something we were taught in school. We were taught to make pros and cons lists, if we were in a dilemma, which ultimately would help us take our decision.I sat my mom down and made this list. It turned out that more good than bad was happening. This calmed her down for a little bit and I explained to her, and realized myself, that it doesn't matter if you sit down all day and cry, or worry about something that didn't work out. It won't fix itself automatically just because you're crying, not eating, and not taking care of yourself.
