Welcome to the Tweep Trends Podcast. Hey, Evac, what's trending today? Hey, I'm Evac, hey girl, and you are tuned in to Tweep Trends. It's the quickest way to find out what's trending today.

Hey there, I am back. It's Thursday, February 13th, also known as Galentines Day. Let's get started. If you have never heard of Galentines Day, then I recommend you go to your favorite streaming service and check out season 2, episode 16 of Parks and Recreation, where Leslie Knope celebrates her gal pals by inviting them all to a brunch and some gift giving in lots of story sharing that's going on.

Personally, I've never experienced a Galentines Day. Now, there have been times where I've had lots of girlfriends, but the unfortunate thing was we were so set on getting our careers right and doing the most in that realm that we didn't do a whole lot in the friendship realm. We would go out to dinner every now and then, but not where I think we could have or should have been. So, looking back on those days, I do wish that we had spent more time fostering relationships and friendships than we did trying to get to that next step.

And I mean, we were all teachers, so really, was there a ladder that we were trying to climb? No, but we're always trying to prove ourselves. Everybody wants to be teacher of the year, and maybe not, but I know I did. So, just thinking about this whole Galentines Day thing, it's kind of bittersweet for me because I wish that I had more friends, because like now with us being a military family, I have friends, but I try to kind of distance myself from them because every couple of years you have to move to a new place, and you make new friends, and I know it sounds really sad, right?

Don't cry for me. I'll be okay. But yeah, it's just, it's kind of sad, and I really need to do better as far as that. So, if you've got Gal pals out there, my recommendation is, you know, you don't even have to do it today, you don't have to do it tomorrow, but just any old time, you don't need a special day to get with your girlfriends and let them know how much you appreciate them.

But definitely check out that episode so that you can see what Leslie Knope's version of Galentines Day was all about. Books and Recreation Galentines episode can be streamed, which is pretty awesome and pretty ironic because I just read an article about streaming, and they're saying that the growth and the amount that people are streaming is just like all over the place is exploding. In this study that I read, it said that more than half of customers with a capacity to stream, subscribe to two or more services, and they also found out that 93% of those people said that they plan to either increase the number of streaming services that they have, or they're at least going to stay where they are. Initially, first glance, you'd be like, whoa, that's amazing, but then you think about it, and you're like, wait a minute.

Netflix has Netflix originals that you can only get on Netflix, and then there's things like Orange is the New Black, you can only get that on Netflix, whereas Handmaid's Tale, you can only get that on Hulu. Disney stuff, you can only get that on Disney Plus. So it doesn't surprise me that people have so many different streaming platforms because everybody wants their own thing. So don't go over to a friend's house and you binge watch a couple episodes of something on one of these platforms, kind of like HBO.

We don't have HBO, and there have been some pretty good shows that have come on HBO, and people have tried to convince me like, oh, you got to get it because you got to see this. And I'm like, no, I don't, because if I don't start watching it, then I don't have to keep watching it. And therefore, I can save a few bucks and use that to go to Starbucks. You know what I mean?

So along with this survey, oh my gosh, survey, they were talking about the amount of time that people spend online on watching any type of digital media. And now those numbers are staggering. And there was one little part though where they were talking about this one person that was a part of the study was saying that when they went to the subway station in New York, not like the sandwich place, they noticed like you can just look around and see that. But you know, for me, honestly, when I go places by myself and I don't know people around me, I do find myself looking at my phone.

Even if my phone battery is like dead, I will pretend like I'm looking at my phone just to make it look like I'm doing something. Or if I see somebody that's selling something on the corner, I will put my earpiece in and act like I'm talking on my phone just so that I don't have to talk to them. I don't want whatever it is that you're buying and I don't want you to try to convince me that I need it. Therefore, I'm going to engage myself.

So I'm like, yeah, but what percentage of those people are for real, for real, doing something on their phone? Not granted, a lot of them are. But I know there's people like me out there too that fake the phone just so that they can keep moving and stay on task, stay on track as far as time goes. But you know, it's really sad in a sense because now they're saying that the television industry, like they're on pins and needles because there's actually the there's a technological generation gap.

So the people that are like 18 to 34, they spend five and a half hours connected to some device watching something, whereas the people that are 65 and older, they spend nearly 50 hours a week sitting in front of their television. But the television people realize, no one understand that pretty soon those 65 plus people are going to be sitting in the cemetery. And those 18 to 34s, they grew up on all this digital in my pocket. I can watch whatever I want to watch whenever I want to watch it.

They're going to be hard, hard, hard to pull over. They'll be like, oh, come sit down. You know, these kids don't even have houses. They don't want houses.

They don't want to be tied to anyone place. They surely don't want to be tied to their couch. Like really? So I said all that to say, start considering what you're going to invest your money in.

Television probably isn't going to be the thing though. Unless they revamp it and turn it into something better, streaming is the way to go. Well today, as Valentine's Day and tomorrow as a Valentine's Day, I hope you didn't procrastinate as far as your gift giving, your outfit preparation. Like if you're going out, do you know what you're going to wear?

Don't wait until the last minute. I'm probably saying this at the last minute, but there's still time because of course, you know, just about anything can be purchased on Amazon and nine times out of 10, it can be rushed to you depending on what it is. So hopefully all of your loved ones and the people that you wanted to share that love with are local for you, that they're right there by you. If not, you know, you can always put a card in the mail.

You can actually take a picture and use an app to send the picture and nine times out of 10, they can get it to them really fast, but you need to be moving now. Do it now. Don't put it off till after lunch because after lunch is going to be after dinner and after dinner is going to be before you go to bed. And by the time you get ready to go to bed, it's going to be too late.

Do you hear me? So, so I'm saying all of this because I waited till the last minute and I'm going to the gym as soon as I'm done with this episode. After I'm done at the gym, I'm going to be running to New York and company to try to find an outfit for tomorrow because we kind of sort of waited till the last minute, but we didn't. But we, so our church is having a Valentine's Day event.

It's called no ordinary love. And I don't go to an ordinary church either. They are very progressive. They occasionally, like the pastor's wife has written a book.

Like I think the title of the book is like, you can't do what or something. And it talks about how, you know, you can be a Christian, you can be saved and still play cards and drink wine and stuff like that. And you know, and I'm like, okay, so yeah, we're not a traditional church when it comes to the types of things that you expect. Because I think for this Valentine's thing, there's going to be a comedian and now they are just doing mocktails.

They're not doing actual cocktails, but a goody bag with fun stuff in it. So I'm really interested to see what these fun things are that are going to be in this Valentine's Day pack. But I said all of that to say, if you don't have plans yet. My recommendation is check your local newspaper.

Maybe not today's one. If you can go to the library and check Wednesday's newspaper, they probably had information there about all of the festivities that are going on this weekend for Valentine's Day, you know, starting Friday through the rest of the weekend through Sunday. And find something in there. You can probably find some concert tickets or maybe be a tourist in your town.

Depending on the type of town you live in, you know, back home, it's a really big tourist area. So that's always like an option. Try not to do the same old same old tired going to the restaurant and eating and, you know, do something different. Get out of your comfort zone and go roller skating.

You know, that's different and you don't have to have reservations to go roller skating or maybe go to a movie, you know, especially if you don't go to movies often. We don't go to movies that often. When we do, it's like a kitty movie because we'll have our daughter with us. But just do something different.

Go ice skating if you have an ice skating rink locally or if there's an escape room. Wouldn't it be cool to be locked up with your love? I mean, granted, you're trying to escape. But still, wouldn't that be fun?

That means it's different. So think outside the box as you get off your procrastination stool and find something to do worthwhile for the holiday. All right. Well, that was today's episode of Tweet Trends.

And you know, after listening to it, I realized that I need to go back and charge myself for every time I said, um, yeah, it was really bad. But hey, I was really, really worried, stressed because I've been procrastinating. It's already Valentine's Day, tomorrow's Valentine's Day. So I was a little bit nervous, I guess.

I don't know. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Do me a favor though. Before you run out to the store to get your Valentine's Day stuff squared away, go ahead on over to Twitter and follow me at hethat.

That's at heyviette. Or just look for the hashtag tweet trends. All right. Have a great one.

Awesome. Valentine's Day. Super duper great Valentine's Day. Wonderful weekend.

And I'll see you back here again on Tuesday. Bye.
