Galway Beaches Go Accessible | Galway News
from Galway News Today | 2 Min News | The Daily News Now!
Galway’s beaches are getting a major accessibility upgrade—two popular spots, Ballyloughane and Silverstrand, now feature special mats that let wheelchairs, strollers, and mobility aids roll right to the water’s edge. A collaborative effort by city council, local groups, and disability advocates, this pilot program launched at Silverstrand on July 28th and will roll out at Ballyloughane in early August, running through August 2026. With a schedule to come, the goal is to make these beaches truly inclusive—and if successful, expand this access across Galway.
