Garcia Steps Back Toward Royals | Kansas City Royals News

Maikel Garcia takes a cautious step toward returning to the Royals, starting a rehab assignment with Northwest Arkansas and batting leadoff—though he went hitless and was pulled defensively. Expected to DH today as activity ramps up, Garcia’s absence stems from a lingering left hand strain he played through since mid-May, which visibly hurt his performance. His return could be a major boost for a Royals team already reeling from injuries, including Bobby Witt Jr. and pitching staff woes. Last year’s All-Star and Gold Glove winner also earned MVP honors in the World Baseball Classic—his comeback might just be the spark this team needs.
