Garcia’s Hand Pain Halts Rehab | Kansas City Royals News

Maikel Garcia’s rehab hit a snag as he went hitless in three at-bats and struck out once, with lingering pain in his left hand forcing him off the field and back to Kansas City for a full medical evaluation. The Royals’ manager confirmed the discomfort flared during his last at-bat, prompting a pause in his recovery. The hand strain, first felt in May during a Cardinals game, had been nagging him since — flaring on awkward swings or fouled pitches — ultimately leading to his June 23rd injury list placement. Before the injury, Garcia was hitting .261 with 3 HR and 30 RBI in 69 games. Nick Loftin and Josh Rojas have stepped in at third base in his absence.
