Garda Commissioner Targets Global Crime | Belfast News

Garda Commissioner Justin Kelly is ramping up international police efforts to dismantle transnational crime networks that threaten Irish communities, following a string of successful extraditions. Speaking at the National Ploughing Championships, he stressed that criminals can no longer operate with impunity abroad — their illegal activities, including trafficking drugs and weapons, must be met with global accountability. The Gardaí are forging stronger partnerships worldwide to ensure those who profit from crime are brought to justice, no matter where they hide. This is an ongoing operation, with more targets on the horizon — and public safety will be the driving force behind these intensified cross-border collaborations.
