Gardaí Neutralize Drone Incursions During EU Presidency | Belfast News

Gardaí have successfully intercepted and neutralized multiple drone incursions during Ireland’s EU presidency, showcasing advanced detection tech and close coordination with the Irish Defence Forces. Deputy Commissioner Paul Cleary confirmed their ability to track, monitor, and safely handle drones — sometimes even returning them to owners — without arrests or specific event details disclosed. While many sightings turn out to be misidentified aircraft, like in Denmark’s recent EU presidency, Ireland’s forces are confident in their capabilities, having even shared best practices with Danish authorities. Beyond drones, Gardaí are also working with global partners including the US Secret Service to ensure comprehensive security for major events, reinforcing public trust through proactive risk assessments and preparedness.
