Garden Update

from Let's Find Out

Updates on some pod stuff coming up: A mailbag episode next week! Email your messages to [email protected] by September 7 and as long as they require absolutely no research, we’ll try to read them out on air. Back by popular demand, we’ll be doing another Ritchie historical walking tour this September, in collaboration with the Ritchie Community League. The Ritchie area is filled with fascinating stories, from its cameo appearance on SCTV to the cattle that escaped from the Gainers Meatpacking Plant. Send us your questions and Oumar Salifou will use them to build this year...

Hey everybody, Chris here with a report from the garden. We have great zucchinis back here this year. Eggplants coming up, tomatoes, sunflowers looking gigantic. A little bit of basil, I'm very proud of that this year, because I grew up from seed, which was super hard.

I'm also here to tell you about some stuff we've got coming up for the next few weeks. We're doing a mailbag episode, next episode. That'll be out next week. So, send me your questions by Monday.

And if they require absolutely no research, I'll try to get to them on the show. Also, we're doing a Richie Walk this month. Yay! The Richie Community League in charge of the wonderful neighborhood on the south side with kind of ice cream and Richie Mark, Kit, and just the general loveliness of the old meat hacking district.

They've invited us to do another History Walk. Omar's going to be leading that one again, Omar Salafood. So please send us your questions by September 13th. We'll pass them along to Omar.

Maybe you're curious about history of Métis River Watson area, political ethnic history of the Richie area, whether the area was ever underneath Glacier. Ice ages, very cool. Gentrification, Spanish-speaking communities in the area will take all the questions, and we'll take your questions and make them into the History Walk this year. So send us what you got.

Last couple of things Trevor Shoutphors and I will be speaking on a webinar for the Apple Bird and Emerald Foundation. That's the Tell Your Story Becoming a Podcasting Pro webinar on October 14th. More details about that on our website. It's just a one night webinar, 10 bucks.

And also, I'm teaching a course. I've been invited to be an instructor with the U of A's faculty extension. So I'm teaching a course on writing about science from October 19th until December 7th. It's an eight week long course.

It's all online. It's for continuing ed students who want to learn how to become good science writers and sharing some of my tips on writing for print and for podcasts. It'll be really fun. Hope to see you there.

Anyways, have a great day. Hope your guidance are giving you lots of questions. I'm giving you lots of early fall, late summer bounty as well. Talk soon.
