Gargi

Join Amit, Dennis and Sunny in our first video review as we discuss the bold and deeply affecting Indian Tamil drama Gargi (2022). This story of brutal acts of violence against a child, and the consequences that follow, is masterfully directed (by Gautham Ramachandran) and handled with realism, nuance and a distinct lack of sensationalism. We discuss Sai Pallavi’s transcendent performance, the stellar supporting cast, those intense court room sequences, and brilliant storytelling that will leave you guessing until the end about the guilt or innocence of Gargi’s father. Gargi is a brave film that takes its audience on an unforgettable journey and leaves us more empathetic, informed and ultimately, wiser.
