Gaslighting is a form of emotional abuse in which one person manipulates another person into doubting their own perceptions, memory, and sanity. Merriam-Webster, the US dictionary publisher, announced that its 2022 word of the year is "gaslighting" due to the tremendous growth in the word's popularity.
