Gaslighting Safety

Sometimes I have the foresight to choose a super short poem for the end of the episode, because I know the topic we’re discussing is going to have me so keyed up that I don’t want to run too long. Today was one of those days. We’re talking about safety concerns that women and femme presenting people face just by existing in the world, and the inappropriate responses that they often have to deal with as a result of trying to protect themselves. I relate a recent personal experience as a part of this and in that specific instance, the man who was threatening my safety was also gaslighting me for attempting to preserve it. It is utter madness to be treated this way. It is worse to have to endure the threat of potentially being treated this way at any moment, daily. No matter who you are, please prioritize safety for yourself and those around you. I’m glad you’re here, C
