Gate 20 is The Gate of Contemplation, in other words "I am. Now".Nico is not thinking about yesterday. Nico is not thinking about tomorrow. Nico is here, completely, in this moment, with the particular quality of presence that other people sometimes experience as slightly startling — as though he has arrived more fully in the room than most people manage, and is now looking at you with an attention that is, frankly, a lot. Nico lives in the now the way other people live in houses — completely, without apology, and with no particular interest in what the neighbours are doing. The now is not a practice for Nico.
